Northern Lights
Painter, Photoshop
August 2009

An illustration inspired by characters and setting from Philip Pullman's Northern Lights book (Golden Compass in U.S). It was a self initiated project, a book cover mock-up, just to see what its like to design within the constraints of paperback cover conventions.
The image was created with a combination of Painter and Photoshop. I was fairly pleased with the way it turned out, but looking at it again, I'm not so sure the main character reads as an armour clad polar bear. What do you think?
